Submission of applications of start-ups and SMEs in the African renewable energies sector

  • Date de création: 30 juillet 2015 10:12

(Agence Ecofin) - The international institution ABREC (African Biofuel Renewable Energy Company) officially launched on 22 July 2015 in Lomé an equity crowdfunding platform,
www.abrec.financeutile.com, in partnership with Finance Utile, a pioneering French platform in equity crowdfunding. The new platform will be dedicated to the financing of projects and SMEs which operate in sub-Saharan Africa in the renewable energies and green technologies sector.

The crowdfunding platform has two goals: supporting entrepreneurship and the private sector in Africa through technology transfers and allowing African populations to gain access to electricity sustainably.

After the revolution in the telecom sector, renewable energies are the next challenge for Africa. Thanks to this platform, Africans will finance the economic development of their country themselves and thus be the actors of their growth.

The new platform ABREC.FinanceUtile goes beyond the financing of projects as it positions itself as an Accelerator in the renewable energies sector in Africa. Thanks to ABREC’s knowledge of the African environment and the presence in Africa and France, of a team of specialists in the assessment, financing and support of projects as well as professional experts in the green energies sector, it is designed to support project developers and the selected SMEs/SMIs over time.

As part of this partnership, ABREC.FinanceUtile is calling for applications from all start-ups and SMEs in the renewable energies sector which wish to launch or develop their business in sub-Saharan Africa.

The entrepreneurs selected, will benefit, in addition to financing between €500k and €5 million, from consulting services and local support in the setup of their business model, their implementation strategy and project management. The platform will also give them access to the ABREC and Finance Utile networks to develop their business in Africa as well as in Europe.
